Why the Knitting Café is the Highlight of the Week in Alfaz

Is there anything better than the sound of clicking knitting needles or crochet hooks spinning around the yarn, the aroma of fresh coffee, and the buzz of good conversation? Here at Casa de Lana, Wednesdays are sacred to us. That’s when the shop transforms into a large, warm living room where we share everything from knitting tips to life wisdom. Here is a little look back at some fantastic evenings we’ve had together this autumn.

Running a knitting shop here in Alfaz del Pi is about so much more than just selling skeins of yarn. It’s about the people. When we look back at the photos from our knitting cafés over the past few months, it truly warms our hearts.

An International Community

We love that Casa de Lana has become a gathering point across borders. Do you remember those amazing days in October when we had a wonderful visit from that lovely group of knitting enthusiasts from the Faroe Islands? There was a very special atmosphere in the shop, and as Grethe so nicely commented on our Facebook page: "Fantastic days with wonderful visitors."

It is precisely this that makes these days so unique. As Line wrote to us after a successful evening with a lottery in November: "Here you meet happy knitters from many nationalities." Whether you are a permanent resident, on holiday from Norway, or swinging by from other corners of the world, there is always a free chair around our table.

More Than Just Knit and Purl

Sometimes we kick things up a notch with a little extra excitement in our everyday lives too. Knitting café with a lottery has become a favorite! The joy in the winners' eyes when they take home lovely yarn packages or accessories is priceless.

And we must not forget the kos (coziness). No knitting café is complete without a little fuel. Whether it’s fresh cinnamon buns, some Spanish snacks, or something good in the glass – the conversation always flows easier with a little treat on the table.

No Reason to Stuff Your Suitcase

We have to smile at the comment from Annestina, who reminded us of something important: "No reason to bring yarn from Norway!" We agree so much. We work hard to keep our shelves full of both known favorites and exciting news from brands like Lanasalpaca and Katia, so you can find exactly what you need for your next project right here in the warmth.

A huge thank you to all of you – both regulars and new faces – who make Hanne and the rest of the team look forward to every single Wednesday. You create the magic!

We host a knitting café every Wednesday afternoon. Bring your knitting (or crochet hook), lower your shoulders, and join the community. We always have room for one more.
