Sangria in our glasses and on our needles – the making of a favorite

One lovely day in May, we filled our glasses with cold Sangria and got our needles clicking with a new project. Days like these truly define life here at Casa de Lanas. Let’s take a little look back at a design favorite that has kept us warm through several seasons – the gorgeous Sangria Sweater.

There is something truly special about the combination of Spanish sun, good company, and a fresh knitting project. When we hosted a customer evening with "Sangria with and without" in the glasses, we had no idea that the sweater we were celebrating would become such a recurring hit with us. But your response was unmistakable – as one of you so aptly commented: "Totally my kind of yarn shop!" And that is exactly what we aspire to be; a sanctuary where shoulders drop, and the joy of knitting takes center stage.

A sweater for all seasons "Sangria Sweater", designed by the talented Kool Knits of Norway, has proven to be just as versatile as it is beautiful. Since that very first launch (when we fell head over heels for the mustard yellow version!), we’ve seen it blossom in countless versions at our knitting cafés.

We’ve seen it in the exclusive 100% silk variety, Cocoon from Rosas Crafts – perfect for those cool summer evenings here on the Costa Blanca. And who can forget the bright pink dream in the softest Silk Mohair (Ginger)? That’s the fun thing about good basic patterns; by switching yarn qualities, you change the expression completely, while keeping that great fit.

The community in Alfaz When we flip back through the archives and look at the photos from these days, it warms our hearts. It’s the laughter, the discussions about color choices, and the joy over a finished garment that makes Casa de Lanas more than just a shop. Whether you pop in for yarn, inspiration, or just a chat over a cup of coffee (or a glass of sangria!), you are an important part of our family down here.
