From the Football Pitch to the Needles – The Story of the Titan Sweater

There are certain designs that mean a little extra to us here at Casa de Lanas. Sometimes you hit a nerve that’s about more than just knit and purl – it’s about personality, values, and that warm, fuzzy feeling. Today, we’re leafing back through our "diary" to the launch of the Titan Sweater Junior, a favorite that still warms hearts, both young and old.

Do you remember when we introduced this treasure?

The story behind the design is just as lovely as the sweater itself. "Titan" was actually knitted with inspiration from our very own Norwegian football star, Håkon Evjen.

For us, this collaboration was about more than just making a cool sweater for active kids. We wanted to capture the essence of what Håkon stands for. On the pitch, we see his outstanding skills, but it’s his character that really inspires us: His generosity, wisdom, and that infectious good humor. Håkon is a role model for kids and adults alike, and it was an honor for Kool Knits of Norway to design a garment that symbolizes exactly that.

The Design that Hit the Mark

The sweater was designed to be both soft and classic – a garment you can live in. It features a lovely circular yoke that makes the pattern a real eye-catcher, and it can be knitted both with and without a hood (something we know many of you appreciate!). We chose to use Drops Lima, a yarn that holds up well to wear, on 3 mm (US 2½) and 4 mm (US 6) needles.

The Response from You

When we shared the great photos of Håkon (taken by the talented photographer Kalle Punsvik) and the delightful child version, the reactions were immediate. Our comment section was overflowing with hearts and thumbs up!

It was incredibly nice to see such engagement. One of the first comments we received was: "Great sweater and models... but the boys are older than 12 now. Is there a pattern for adults too?"

And as you know – we listen to you! The community we have here, both in the shop in Alfaz del Pi and online, is what drives us forward. That a design can create so much engagement, from grandmothers wanting to knit for their grandchildren to questions about adult sizes, is exactly the knitting joy we live for.

Whether you’re enjoying a glass of wine in the sun here in Spain or curling up inside during the dark autumn nights in Norway, we hope the Titan sweater can inspire new projects on your needles.
